The changes that went into effect in 2014 are still in place as far as tourist visas. 52 countries are currently given visa exemptions upon entry. You will be granted a visa exemption for 15 days if you enter by land, and 30 days if by air. A complete list of these countries can be found at the link directly below this post. Tourist visas are valid for 90 days to 6 months depending on your needs, and vary as far as allowed number on entries. If you think you may want to hop up to Laos or over to Vietnam at some point during your 6 month visit to Thailand be sure you get a multi entry visa or you'll end up paying for a visa twice.
